Before They Go

A few weeks ago, I blogged over at Writ.Click.Scrapbook about "Scrapbooking your Stuff." Namely scrapbooking about the things in your life that tell stories.

Inspired by my very own topic, I made a layout  about some old boxes that needed to get thrown away, but that had some memories attached to them. Sam used to fill these cases with so many things while he played; old cell phones, CD's, buttons, and, of course, toy weapons. So many hours of play happened with those two boxes in tow.

So, memories preserved, boxes gone.

See? Aside from all  the supplies and scrapbook albums, scrapbooking is a great way to help reduce clutter.

A New Discovery

A couple of months ago, I discovered Jot Magazine. It's a relatively new scrapbook magazine, and I fell in love with it right away. Now, I like to peruse pretty much anything with pictures of scrapbook pages in it. But this magazine, felt a little different. I felt the way I felt, dare I say it, when I discovered Simple Scrapbooks magazine oh, so many years ago. Something about the articles just struck a chord with me. What's more, I don't even mind that this magazine is only available digitally. Usually that is a mood killer for me, but not in this case.

Anyway, the point of that long story, aside from simply sharing a good find, is that I have a layout in the most recent issue, and it is this one right here:

Interestingly, I have another recent layout, also about a family couch.

I guess we like to sit a lot.

From Blog to Scrapbook

A Little while ago, I told the story of Max's performance in his school play. Well, really it was an abridged version of his life story.  I used a few adorable photos to tell the story.

I liked the words so much, I copied and pasted them in the following layout accompanied by one super-awesome photo (that I did not take.)

I was feeling kind of frustrated while making this layout, but now that it is done, I think I rather like it.

There is another Pirates of Penzance layout in the works, where I describe the tension I felt as Max strutted and frolicked on stage. For I wondered if anyone mentioned that he should probably wear a pair of shorts under his kilt. That story has a happy ending.

So, till then...

Write.Click.Scrapbook January gallery

Well, I'm a few days late in posting this, but that's okay. I'll be posting all week over at Write.click.scrapbook. For now, though, here is my January layout. The theme for this month is "the times." I think I struggled with this's month's layout more than for any other theme. What, pray tell, did the phrase "the times" mean to me? The only thing that went through my head, was Bob Dylan's song, "The Times They are a-Changing.'"

So, I thought and thought and thought some more about what is changing for me right now. Still, I had nothing.  And then I went to my nephew's bar mitzvah; this was for my brother's youngest son, while his oldest, has recently gotten engaged. To be married. So many of the same people who were there that weekend were also there when my brother got engaged., and through births and birthdays over the years. And all of a sudden here we are, old enough to be parents and aunts of a new bride and groom. So, the times are a-changing, indeed.
