Write.Click.Scrapbook Sneak

This sneak is for the month of April, which might seem obvious but I kept saving my files as WCS March. Because I can't quite believe it. I suppose it's good that it's almost April, because March has been non-stop action for me. Just a few more days till the madness slows down, and I hope to stop and breathe a little bit.

Anyway, here's the sneak:

Any guesses on the theme?  Here are links to some more sneaks. See if you can figure it out:

Mini Album Update

I am feeling a little obsessed with my Picture Day mini album. Aside from working on it for a long time, and enjoying the results, today I read it to my youngest preschool class in preparation for our real life picture day, next week. I like when my professional life and my scrappy life intersect.

And, they liked the book! I think the part that was most amazing to them, was when I showed them the picture with me and Max, and they realized that I was the mommy in the book. "I have a mommy. But, you're my teacher!" said one little guy.

Another asked, "Who's that baby?"

And then it was interesting to watch him think about this tiny baby turning into that large kid from the earlier page.

And they enjoyed seeing the final product:

"He's sad." said one child. He does look a little sad here. That's kind of why I love this photo. I remember (somewhat) how Max could be when he was anxious as a young child (lots of loud crying and some hiding). And here, he's clearly not loving it, but he's keeping it together.

And as long as I'm connecting work and scrapbooking, I will share this layout about me at work. This time of year, I get to tell the stories of Purim and then Passover. I like passing these stories down, and watching the stories retold by the kids. I made this layout for one of my Write.Click.Scrapbook. posts about documenting your creative outlets.

Another Mini-Album

Yep! I made two mini albums for WCS this month. Coming from someone who usually makes no mini albums, this is a big deal. For this one, I had the honor and pleasure of using a kit from Little Black Dress Kit Club.

The kits was filled with lots of black and white and yellow papers, as well as stickers, buttons, ribbons, and ephemera. It really was chock full of goodies. As with my other mini album, I used this one to tell a story that unfolds over the course of the album. This story is just one of those stories from our road trip that we retell over and over again. It might not be funny to anyone else.

It is called, "Max to the Rescue."

The End.

March Mini Madness

Yes, March is mini madness at Write.Click.Scrapbook.

I have long struggled with the mini album format, so I left myself lots of time to work on this project. I used this album to tell a story that I had been meaning to tell for years and years. It's the story of Max's first picture day in preschool.

I wrote this as a picture book to be read aloud to my preschool classes. Every year, on picture day, at least one child cries when a stranger comes in and starts giving instructions and taking photos. And at that point, I  always say, "Oh, I should make a book about Max's picture day. That would be good to read right now."

When Max was in preschool, I knew that he would be that child who cried, so we prepared a lot for the experience.

So, without further ado, I bring you, "Picture Day."

This is still one of my favorite pictures ever.
